A lovingly restored Art-Deco villa right in the heart of Sliema
Aster House is my Art-Deco villa in Sliema, Malta. It is the result of a three year loving restoration of a 1920s British Military family home, now sleeping up to 9 across three super king ensuite bedrooms. The villa is 240 square metres, sits 150 metres (a 2 minute walk) from the sea, and keeps every original architectural feature that made it special in the first place.

What makes the Art-Deco restoration genuine
Real Art-Deco heritage is in the details, not the styling. At Aster House the original Maltese floor tiles are still in place, the bold geometric lines are kept intact, and the original art was painted by our resident artist Monica. The 1930s outdoor tub on the rooftop is the original piece, not a reproduction.
- Original Maltese floor tiles, room by room
- Restored Art-Deco architectural lines kept faithful to the 1920s build
- Original artwork by resident artist Monica throughout
- Custom-made furniture commissioned for the spaces
- A 1930s outdoor tub that came with the building, now used for stargazing
Modern comforts inside the heritage shell
A heritage building can still feel brand new inside. Aster House has three super king bedrooms each with its own ensuite bathroom, a media room with a 2 metre projector screen, an Xbox, smart TVs, and free Netflix. The kitchen is family-equipped, the linens are luxury, and the internet is fast. Air conditioning, underfloor heating and eco-built power systems make it as comfortable in January as it is in August.

Designed for families and friends who refuse to compromise
The reason I lovingly restored this villa for families and friends is simple. So many guests had told me they were fed up with sacrificing the luxuries they enjoyed as a couple once they started travelling as a family. We knew both were possible. Aster House sleeps 9, with flexible sofa beds in the master suite and the media room. The layout works for families with small children, multigenerational groups with grandparents, friends celebrating milestone birthdays, and hen and anniversary weekends.
Meet Susan, your host
I’m Susan, the founder of Espais Roca and the person who restored Aster House. I designed every room myself, working with local Maltese craftspeople over three years to bring the building back to its 1920s elegance. When you book Aster House you are staying in a Boutique Maison I personally curate, not a faceless rental.
I answer messages myself, I know which Sliema restaurants are worth the walk, and I will make sure your stay is exactly what you needed it to be.
